Russian Design Pavilion: Promoting Russian Design Abroad

Anastasia Krylova & Maria Tvardovskaya

The Russian Design Pavilion (RDP) is a program of design events aimed at promoting Russian design abroad. Inspired by the "Russian Seasons" by Sergei Diaghilev, the RDP seeks to enhance the status of Russian design on the international stage.

In their work, Anastasia Krylova and Maria Tvardovskaya focus on the presentation and experience aspect of design. They believe that effective marketing strategies and independent design initiatives can be powerful tools for promoting Russian design without relying on myths or stereotypes.

The RDP utilizes a wide network of professional contacts and implements various promotional activities to showcase Russian design. These activities include exhibitions, publishing projects, workshops, and digital social networking technologies. The RDP also collaborates with international design events such as the Florence Design Week, 100% Design London, and Fuorisalone in Milan.

Each RDP exhibition features world premieres of products made or designed in Russia, including furniture, home accessories, and glassware. The exhibitions attract architects, decorators, interior designers, engineers, designers, and the press. Designers personally present their products, allowing for live communication and networking opportunities.

The RDP is a temporary showroom held twice per year in various design weeks and locations. It serves as a platform for emerging talents in Russian design and aims to promote their work to the European market. The RDP team is dedicated to fostering cooperation between design and national production and supports emerging industries in entering the international market.

Through their activities, Anastasia Krylova and Maria Tvardovskaya aim to stimulate Russian-speaking designers to perfect their knowledge and skills through international projects. They also help designers understand their role in the design community, how to promote their products, and create true innovations.

The Russian Design Pavilion has received recognition for its outstanding expertise and innovation. In 2014, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Event and Happening Design category. This award highlights the RDP's remarkable level of excellence, technical characteristics, and artistic skill.

With their dedication to promoting Russian design abroad, Anastasia Krylova and Maria Tvardovskaya are making a significant impact on the international design scene.
